Symptoms
When you work in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 buttons or OneNote 2010 buttons may be missing as follows:
Microsoft Outlook Onenote Add-in
When you work in an e-mail item, the Send to OneNote button is missing.
When you work in a calendar item or in a task item, the Notes About This Item or the Linked Meeting Notes button is missing.
Cause
OneNote is now available within Outlook. There are a few ways to use OneNote and Outlook to manage project meetings and tasks. OneNote and Outlook: Store emails. Surface key information and keep everyone in the loop by adding emails to relevant project notebooks. Open the relevant email and click the OneNote icon. Pick the relevant notebook.
This issue may occur when the OneNote add-in is disabled in Outlook or if the Outlook Integration has not been installed.
Resolution
- OneNote integrates easily with Microsoft Outlook and other Office products. You can email a message to OneNote or email notes captured in OneNote to others. Items assigned in OneNote appear as Tasks in Outlook. You can easily send Word and PowerPoint files to OneNote.

To install the Outlook integration. follow these steps.
For Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
Click Start, click Run, type control appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then click ENTER.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7
Click Start, type programs and features in the Search box, and then press ENTER.
Right-click on the version of Office or OneNote that is installed, and then click Change.
Select Add or Remove Features, and then click Continue.
Expand Microsoft OneNote.
Expand Send to OneNote Add-ins.
If there is an X next to Outlook Integration, click on the X, and then click Run from My Computer.
Click Continue.
To enable the OneNote add-in in Outlook, follow these steps.
For Outlook 2010
On the File menu, click Options.
Click Add-ins.
If OneNote Notes about Outlook Items is listed under Inactive Application Add-ins, follow these steps:
In the Manage box, click COM Add-Ins, and then click Go.
In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, click to select the OneNote Notes about Outlook Items check box, and then click OK.
For Outlook 2007
On the Tools menu, click Trust Center.
In the Trust Center dialog box, click Add-ins.
If OneNote Notes about Outlook Items is listed under Inactive Application Add-ins, follow these steps:
In the Manage box, click COM Add-Ins and then click Go.
In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, click to select the OneNote Notes about Outlook Items check box, and then click OK.
Microsoft Outlook With Onenote
To do this in Outlook 2003, follow these steps:

Click the Other tab.
Click Advanced Options.
Click COM Add-Ins.
Click to select the OneNote Notes about Outlook Items check box.
Click OK to close the COM Add-Ins dialog box.
Click OK to close the Advanced Options dialog box.
Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
